Derby in everyday life

Being introduced to the world of Roller Derby is a little bit like being brain washed. Ever so slowly you find you start to think differently and react to things in a slightly non-convenital way.
I find now can do things I wouldn't really dare to do before. The first time I realised this was about three months in to my training. I had made it in to League practices from the newbie session when I had to take a short break to part-take in a festival.

Firstly, it was nice that I was able to carry a little more from the car park on the pain staking journey to the campsite as my fitness levels had improved.

Secondly, and possibly most importantly - I found moving around crowds much easier - for me that is, I can't speak for those around me! No longer did I wait for a decent amount of space to become available before I made an advance into the mass of people before me - Oh no! Now I'd learnt the art of slipping through a small gap to gain those all important points and the swift shoulder and hip checks needed to clear space for my Jammer - All bets were off!
Of course only being in training for a mere 3 months this may not be as elegant as I may be portraying it to be and it is definitely not something I would have attempted were beverages in play (that's for next year).

Thirdly, and maybe finally for the time being, I would have to mention how working as a pack also makes a vast improvement (and adds many giggles) to nights out with other Roller Girls. Many a time has a gaggle of us been out together and the inevitable happens - someone drops something/someone has to sort a shoe out/sees something shiny or generally falls behind you can always catch the cry from the first person who notices and chooses to fall to behind stretching sideways skipping along yelling 'Bridging BR...II...DG....ING!!" much to the bemusement of passers-by.

Zaggora Hot Pants Challenge : Conclusion

I have to say I was very surprised at the results of simply wearing a pair of shorts during my daily routine. The Hot Pants themselves were really easy to wear as strange as that might sound. I found them easy to wear underneath my normal everyday wear and even managed to look feminine in them too whilst I sang on stage for the Bolton FM Christmas Extravaganza.
The were so comfortable to wear whilst playing Roller Derby, they fit nicely up to my knee pads and offer enough coverage and warmth to wear instead of tights/leggings which is definitely a plus in my books.

As Zaggora also suggest they are comfortable enough to wear when you are in bed I thought it would be rude not to test this theory out on the last day (well night) of the challenge. I would agree, most comfortable - and warm to wear in bed!
I also found them quite addictive, especially when I saw the results after week one, I just found myself sat at home thinking 'I could be wearing my Hot Pants now - wonder what I could lose' :)

So the final measure in..

Over all I lost
2.5 inches around my waist
2 inches around my hips and
2 inches on my thigh

Not bad for just wearing a pair of shorts! I have a pair to give away on air this week so tune in for your chance to win!

Zaggora Hot Pants Challenge : Day 9, 10 & 11

An indulgent weekend - it was my faux Christmas get together with the family down South as I will be up North this year. I chose to drive down wearing them Friday night. They were very comfortable and kept me nice and warm for the long journey.
A day shopping - making sure I had all the little pressies to leave down there for the big day and then a day of just lazying round the house.
Even though the measuring shows I have lost something off my waist, hips and thighs I wasn't really feeling any trimmer overall really but I have actually noticed that my thighs are a little less wobbly then they were and I was sporting a nice flat looking tummy in my skinny jeans and shirt earlier this weekend.

Be warned, your jeans/trousers/skirts may get slightly looser and with the pants underneath you really can't feel where they rest so make sure you have a belt on standby - yes this was learnt by experience :)

Zaggora Hot Pants Challenge : One week later...

1 week later - wow, what can I say. I was sceptical at first but liking the results. After an on-air measure in my new measurements are

Waist 28inches - 2inches
Hips 32.5inches - 1.5 inches
Thighs 20inches - 1 inch

With lovely smooth skin to boot!

I ate like a pig this week too. I didn't change my daily routine at all and didn't actually get time to go to the gym or go for a run. Lets see if I get chance next week. It's quite funny as I am telling people about the results so far and men joke about getting some - when I tell them they can be used by men or women can see their expression change to a faint ponder.

I think these Hot Pants could be the twenty-first centuries equivalent of the cabbage diet that you used go on the week before you need to squeeze in to that little black dress.

Zaggora Hot Pants Challenge : Day 6 & 7

It's surprising how active you actually are when you have to blog about it and keep a record. I always thought I was quite lazy but looking back over the last week and the updates on here it seems like I never stop.
Day 6 I wore my Hot Pants to the grand opening of Decathlon on behalf of Bolton FM. It kinda felt wrong, wearing something that can help you lose weight and trim up without the aid of all the fancy equipment that was displayed in the aisles before me - but we'll just keep that our little secret. With the evening spent with me running after famous sporting personalities for interviews and walking round the store for a bit of a nosey I'd say along with the Hot Pants I must have burnt off a few calories.
Day 7 was a walk round late night Christmas shopping and clothes buying with the Mr. After a wander round and a trip to Nandos to refuel we headed home - me empty handed and the Mr with a new wardrobe... surely that wrong?? :D

Well tune in tomorrow morning on www.boltonfm.com 7-9am for a mid challenge sneak at a measure up and see what the results are so far. It's like waiting for Christmas at the minute - I can't wait for a sneaky go with the tape measure.
